Classic bike racing

Steve Pond is half of Spyre Limited’s classic motorcycle racing team. Steve has raced two-strokes for decades but is now mostly content to spanner for Siân. Steve still enjoys the odd foray on to the track with GP Originals and, in recent times, The Lansdowne Classic Series. These two Series have now grown into the two biggest dedicated grids of classic race bikes you will find anywhere – both of these Championships are branded and maintained by Spyre Limited.

Classic racing

With the generosity and help of Tony and Louise Perkin of Geartech Midlands Ltd. Steve is looking forward to competing in the Lansdowne Classic Series in 2020.

The Perkins recently acquired a racing MSS Velocette which is eligible for the Lansdowne’s TCM Class – the red plated bikes supported by The Classic Motorcycle magazine. Two test race meetings have been completed to establish what will need to be done over the winter period. We don’t expect the bike to be a race winner but hopefully it will hold it’s own amongst the other TCM challengers.
