As two-stroke racers ourselves we were keen to get involved in the branding and logo design of a new race series for post classic GP bikes. Consequently, we knew that our creative design experience paired with our own passion for these machines would allow us to connect with the riders. We created the brand name and designed a bespoke identity. The new brand was rolled out across social media channels, managed GDPR compliant email campaigns and range of merchandise.
GP Originals is a race series specifically for two-stroke 250cc and 350cc motorcycles from the 1970s to early ’80s. With a focus on period features, it honours a golden era when a privateer could tune their own Grand Prix machine and win at the highest level of competition. The name GP Originals was selected by the team from our proposal. We created the identity to reflect racing heritage but also to work effortlessly in modern channels of communication.
The Series is now well underway. As a result of our unusual approach it is growing beyond all expectations. Goodwood reference the GP Originals’ pool of machines and riders for their Hailwood Trophy race at the Members Meeting in 2017 and ’18 and again in 2020.
Motorsport branding and logo design in action
The finished GP Originals logo and branding has been reproduced successfully in litho, digital, screen print and dye sublimation. We produced engraved jet holders, mugs and t-shirts to complete a suite of professionally branded items.
GP Originals has grown into the biggest dedicated grid of post classic two-stroke GP machines within one season.
